S2S Medical Billing Co. provides billing, credentialing, and prior authorization for Washington State behavioral health practices: therapists, counselors, psychologists, social workers, psychiatrists, and psychiatric nurse practitioners. The work is fully remote, and it covers the Washington payers that make behavioral health billing complicated, including Premera Blue Cross, Regence BlueShield, and Apple Health (Washington Medicaid) managed care plans.
Solo clinicians and group practices across Washington, from Seattle and Tacoma to Spokane, who want one person handling claims, credentialing, and authorizations instead of a rotating team.
You work directly with Jennifer Noel, who has 15+ years in medical practice management. Everything happens through your EHR, clearinghouse, and payer portals, so being on the East Coast doesn't slow anything down.
Washington Payers
Washington has its own mix of payers, plans, and credentialing systems. These are the areas where claims most often stall.
Benefits can differ by employer group and plan, and some plans handle behavioral health authorizations differently from medical services. I verify eligibility, session limits, and authorization rules for each client's specific plan before the first session, not after a denial.
Regence is a separate company from Premera, with its own provider portal, policies, and network. Being in-network with one does not make you in-network with the other, so credentialing and claims are tracked for each.
Washington is also one of the states where two Blue plans operate, so claims for out-of-state Blue members go to whichever plan serves the county where you see the client.
Most Apple Health clients are enrolled in a managed care plan. That means enrolling with the Washington State Health Care Authority through ProviderOne and then credentialing and contracting separately with each managed care plan your clients use. I manage both layers and keep the enrollments current.
Washington health plans use CAQH as the state's common credentialing database, so your CAQH profile has to be complete, attested, and kept current for applications to move.
Commercial credentialing commonly takes 60–120 days, so new practices should start early.
Telehealth sessions need the right place-of-service code and modifier for each payer, and the rules have changed several times in recent years. I track telehealth requirements payer by payer so sessions are billed the way each plan expects.
Higher levels of care, psychological testing, and some medication services can require authorization. I submit, track, and renew authorizations and flag expirations before visits run out. See prior authorization.
How It Works
Working with a Washington practice from New Jersey looks the same as working with a practice down the street.
We talk through your payers, EHR, and pain points. You get a custom quote the same day. The scheduler shows times in your own time zone.
A Business Associate Agreement is signed before any patient data is shared. Then I get access to your EHR, clearinghouse, and payer portals.
Claims go out promptly, denials are worked, and you get monthly reporting on what's been paid, what's outstanding, and why.

Yes. S2S bills both Premera Blue Cross and Regence BlueShield, and verifies each client's plan, benefits, and authorization requirements before treatment.
Because benefits can vary by employer group and plan, checking up front prevents most surprise denials.
Yes. Apple Health billing involves enrollment with the Health Care Authority through ProviderOne plus separate credentialing and contracting with each managed care plan your clients are enrolled in, and S2S manages both.
If you're not yet enrolled, that work comes first so claims aren't denied for enrollment reasons.
Credentialing with most commercial payers commonly takes 60–120 days, and Apple Health enrollment plus each managed care plan's credentialing runs on its own timeline.
Payers control the timeline, so the best thing you can do is start early with a complete application. S2S charges $250 per insurance, per provider. See credentialing.
S2S bills for licensed mental health counselors (LMHC), independent clinical social workers (LICSW), marriage and family therapists (LMFT), psychologists, psychiatrists, and psychiatric nurse practitioners.
Solo practices and groups are both welcome.
Ongoing billing is a flat monthly retainer plus a per-claim fee, never a percentage of collections.
Prior authorizations are $50 each and credentialing is $250 per insurance, per provider. Full details are on the pricing page.
